Events in the heart of the Dolomites

Cortina and the surrounding Dolomites host world-class events year-round. (Dates below are for the most recent editions — always check the official event site for the current year.)

  • Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics & Paralympics (Feb–Mar 2026). Cortina co-hosted the Games, seventy years after its 1956 Olympics: the women's alpine skiing races ran on the Olympia delle Tofane, curling at the renovated Olympic Ice Stadium, and bobsleigh, skeleton and luge at the rebuilt Eugenio Monti Sliding Centre. Italy's Federica Brignone took gold on the Tofane. The Games left upgraded lifts, roads and snowmaking across the valley — and, handily, the San Vito ski area stayed open to the public throughout.
  • Cortina Audi FIS Ski World Cup (January). Every winter the world's best women's speed skiers race the legendary Olympia delle Tofane. After a one-year break in 2026 for the Olympics, the World Cup returns on 15–17 January 2027 — the first post-Olympic races — with two downhills and a super-G.
  • La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB (late June). One of the world's iconic trail races, part of the UTMB World Series, starting and finishing on Cortina's Corso Italia. The 2026 edition runs 24–28 June with five distances — 10, 20, 50, 80 and 120 km — the flagship 120K climbing 5,800 m past the Tre Cime, Cristallo, Sorapis and Croda da Lago.
  • Cortina–Dobbiaco Run (late May). The summer counterpart to the ski Granfondo: a scenic ~30 km point-to-point run from Cortina's Corso Italia along the old Dolomites railway — through rock tunnels and over suspended bridges, past the Cima Banche pass and Lake Landro with the Tre Cime in view — finishing in Dobbiaco. The 2026 edition is on 31 May.
  • Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti (summer). A historic regularity race for classic and vintage cars over the great Dolomite passes, filling Cortina with beautiful machines.
  • Dobbiaco–Cortina Granfondo (winter). A cross-country ski marathon with nearly fifty years of tradition, tracing the old railway from Dobbiaco past Lake Landro and the Cimabanche pass to Fiames near Cortina; the 50th edition runs 6–7 February 2027.

Your base for an event or training camp: The whole house sleeps 14 and is built for groups — a race crew, a ski or cycling team, or friends and family coming to watch. You get a modern, quiet, more affordable base 15 minutes from Cortina's start lines, a private garden and dedicated parking, e-bike and EV charging, and a host who's a Scuola Sci Cortina instructor and knows the mountains.

Beyond sport, Cortina runs a full seasonal calendar — Cortina Summer's open-air music and cinema, the Cortina Fashion Weekend, and the Una Montagna di Libri book festival — worth a look on the town's official events page when you visit.
