Getting to Dolomites Escapes

San Vito di Cadore is easy to reach. It's about 1h45 by car from Venice and just over 2 hours by bus; roughly 1h30 from Treviso, and about 3 hours from Verona. The nearest airport is Venice Marco Polo (~135 km); Treviso (~115 km) is closer and quicker to get out of. San Vito is just 11.8 km — about 10 minutes — from Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Which airport: when flying from within Europe, we'd point you to Treviso. It's closer, and you're out fast - a personal best of eight minutes from landing to the airport exit with hand luggage only. Venice Marco Polo works well too and has more flights, from all around the world.

By bus: frequent direct coaches run from Venice to San Vito and Cortina. ATVO's Route 29 goes from Venice P.le Roma, Mestre and Venice Marco Polo Airport straight to San Vito — about 2 hours from the airport, with free Wi-Fi and space for skis; Cortina Express and Flixbus also serve the route, and the local Dolomiti Bus line 30 runs between San Vito and Cortina in about 17 minutes.

Transfers and taxis: private airport transfers and local taxis are available whenever you need them.

Do I need a car? Not to stay in the village — shops, restaurants, ski lifts and the lake are walkable, and the buses connect you to Cortina. But to roam the wider Dolomites (Sorapis, the Tre Cime, Passo Giau, the day trips), a car makes it far easier. The nearest train station is Calalzo di Cadore, about 20 km away, then a short bus.
