San Vito di Cadore is an easy base with children: a gentle beginners' ski area, a flat lakeside park at Lake Mosigo, a traffic-free cycle path on an old railway line, and indoor options nearby for a wet day — all within reach of Cortina.

 Close to home

• Parco NeveSole — the gentle beginners' ski area; perfect for first turns, all ages (winter).
• Lake Mosigo — flat, pretty, with a football pitch and picnic spots; toddlers upward.
• Happy Park, Borca — an adventure park for school-age kids.
• The nature trail — an easy, shady walk any age can manage.

On two wheels

• Bike hire in San Vito centre + the old railway trail — ride south towards Calalzo (part of the famous Munich–Venice route — you really could reach Venice), or north towards Cortina, Fiames and Passo Cimabanche, and even on to Lienz in Austria for the bold.
• San Candido → Lienz (with a car) — hire bikes in San Candido and take the train back from Lienz. Lienz has restaurants, pools and plenty for families. Highly recommended.

Rain, or just something different (with a car)

• Acquapark San Candido — indoor water fun for a wet day (~1h drive).
• Fun Bob, San Candido or Auronzo — the mountain toboggan; a guaranteed hit.
• Wellness at Moso (Sesto) — a beautiful sauna and spa circuit for the grown-ups (~1h).
